First, an actual scan of a pineapple was repainted and made seamless. Then, several different layers were created for bump and colour mapping.



Imperfections and stains on the fruit skins were painted in an exaggerated way to add character to the fruits. An ordinary stain on the pear turns into a trendy lock of hair.



The avocado texture was a great challenge to paint. Dots of different sizes had to be combined in various layers, some with sharp details and some with a subtle blur.
